In 2020, when the world shut down and race calendars went blank, KarMing Lo had a simple idea: stop waiting and just race. He gathered a small group of friends, mapped out a course, and Shaker Man was born — not from a boardroom or a race management company, but from a genuine love of the sport and a refusal to let COVID kill the season.

What started as a backyard event among friends has grown into one of the most beloved grassroots triathlons around in Shaker Heights. Six years later, the spirit is exactly the same: push hard, laugh harder, and celebrate at the finish line with a cold beer in hand.
